Smudge painting is a digital technique in Photoshop. First you get the photo collage or drawing or art piece completely the way you want it as far as composition, color, details etc. Then, using the smudge brush option in Photoshop, you paint over the picture. I could elaborate further if you're interested. It is very time consuming to do well. Mary :-D
