Illustration Friday : Seed... faith..of idea..of dreams..
Seed...? I've been spending the last few months seeding my mind and springing to the easel in preparation for my first solo show.. and my journey into spring and summer tent canopy fairs....to promote myself and my art.. So, I haven't been around for Illustration Friday, and Ive missed it! I also won another 3rd in a juried show!
So 'please', enjoy some of the fruits of my germination process as the seeds come to light! and feel free to comment!

Illustration Friday : Heavy:Some Fat is Beautiful
This is a 16x24 chalk and acetate piece that I did as one of my assignments in school, for one of my favourite teachers. The challenge was finding a solution to the statement. Some fat "is" beautiful... and it can be. Our world is sooooo conditioned to find thinness appealing,to the point of annorexia. There is, a 'healthy' medium, a 'happy' medium, which might mean to a models standards 'that", we may be a little too heavy. "If I had been around when Rubens was painting, I would have been revered as a fabulous model. Kate Moss? Well, she would have been the paintbrush."
~Dawn French

Illustration Friday: Theory: Serenity with an edgier addition
30x36 Acrylic
I have a "theory" that, if something isn't right.. you wait... then you work on it some more. This piece has taken ages of drafting and redrafting. I submitted it a couple of weeks ago... then took it>> back to the painting board. It was better but still wasn't right.

Illustration Friday:Choose: Cups: Second of 2
16x20 acrylic
It occurred to me that those in business have to make choices quite often.
Then I recalled the game of cups which is all about the choice and singling out the right one.

Illustration Friday: Choose: Which path to choose? :First of 2
This is a painted over another piece. 16x20 and acrylic.
Lifes Path
I look at my life and though I have a 'whole' bunch more to live, seem to always come up against 'that' path...
or fork.
You are the person who has to decide.
Whether you'll do it or toss it aside;
You are the person who makes up your mind.
Whether you'll lead or will linger behind.
Whether you'll try for the goal that's afar.
Or just be contented to stay where you are."
Edgar A. Guest

Quite often we find our dog in this position... underneath the blanket.

**Illustration Friday: Superstion : Family Gathering
A rather unique superstition was, that if a goose layed 'only' two eggs.. it was considered bad luck.
another is : If one saw geese leaving a farm it was an omen of fire...

Illustration Friday: Trick or Treat
I thought about this topic and wondered what I could do that I could use.. and that might speak to this topic so.. being in a philosophical mood... I did this piece.. On board.. mix media...
The rationale behind it... We really do want to see what we want to cause it makes us comfortable... I talked ?ok wrote with an IF friend today... and started thinking about illusions... Christmas means the dove and peace on earth... but what if it came disguised.. dressed up... came as a pigeon... in a santa hat... Would we still recognize the peace.. the good will... ? Or would we want it only the way we know it...
If all one expects is a trick... sometimes we miss the treat...

Extremes: Evolving Revolving Agriculture
It may be pushing it to enter this as an Extreme Entry... but its what Ive been doing this week... And it is interesting how Agriculture has evolved from its simplistic roots, to abuse, then to the technologically savy and environmental awareness of todays world. Extremes.... yeah.. maybe it does fit!

The idea is that, inside we can become very barren and introspective but 'When' one remembers to open ones eyes and look outside oneself, its funny how the world has a lot more colour and life. Hope you are enjoying your day... :)

Illustration Friday:Poem
I don't know if you have ever had an experience like this. You get an idea in your head and YOU know, that its probably better to walk away from it, but you know if you dont persist its unlikely you will come back to it for quite a while. Well I persisted and what do you know this is the idea and this is its result and I believe it turned out :) . I personally love words and the balance one can achieve with them. A good poem is like a good piece of music, Powerful, moving, like a dance. The other thing I can equate with it visually is the dance of traffic lights at night as they weave in and through each other leaving impressions, yet always moving. There is the path, there is the rhythm, and there is movement. There is also the unknown and unexpected. I trust you to enjoy my personal vision of ............a Poem. Comments are always appreciated
