This started off as a bigger picture, but i like the effect of this crop..to promote the theme hair...
this is most of the whole pic...(still cropped)
and yet I like this version as well.... the only difference really is the zoom and more hands...
Chalk pastel on construction paper..

Both are wonderful, Janice. My feeling about cropping is having the alternative to, we always hope, make the image speak in a stronger voice or make a bolder statement. Here for example, it's just as you say, "to promote the theme hair". Does it have that extra oomph? I say, "darned right it does!"
I love the way you decided to crop this. They are both great, but the cropped version packs more interest. love her little hair bows!
NICE!!! Wish you could have submitted it earlier! its really great!!
i commented on artful monday, but had to come to the source.
she's beautiful. this is a wonderful entry. i agree that the cropped version adds umph.
This is one of your best so far, Janice, I like the toned paper which helps you to build your layers of colour, and a nice drawingtoo.! cheers Roger.

Dulce, misteriosa y juguetona. Muy bella imagen. Y los colores tambien.
This illustration is adorable! I like both versions. You sure are a prolific artist and all your work looks great!
Janice, the cropped version works very well, and you handled the hair beautifully. Bravo!
I really love her. :)

wonderful job and i think just the rough, squiggly pastels and charcoal are RIGHT on, look-wise. this is a great piece, janice. the crop is best. it really adds to the playfulness and personality. :))
